Vietnam and Taiwan Trip

View Vietnam - Taiwan 2010 on ejwelton's travel map.

Traveling through Vietnam searching for new sites in my NASA network (MPLNET). Visiting Taiwan afterwards for a meeting on the 7SEAS field campaign in South East Asia. I leave on June 6, and will be posting updates and photos as I travel (pending internet availability).

Gotta add lots of travel between 1990 and 2010! Way behind..

I'll get around to filling in my missing travels from 1990 to 2010. Kids and work interfered.

Cayman Islands - 1989

View Cayman Islands - 1989 on ejwelton's travel map.

High School had just ended and I was 18. Went to Cayman Islands to visit my best friend Wayne, who moved there with his family for a few years as soon as high school ended. Spent about a week there. No pics to find, this was a looonggg time ago.

Here are some notable memories:

1. This was my first time outside the United States.

2. I was 18 yrs old, and could legally drink.

3. I recall some German chicks....

4. Trying to catch stone crabs one night crossing a road (I think this happened, but see #2). This seems lame, but there were thousands of them scampering across the road, it was kind of freaky.

5. I flew British Airways on this trip, and something happened with my reservation on the way home. I don't recall the details, but my seat was lost (not my fault). The airline bumped me to first class (only seat available)! Keep in mind I was only 18, and this was my first trip outta the US. I had a 4 star meal on the flight back, and drank as much free booze as I could get down on the 1 1/2 hour flight home to Tampa. I think this is what got me hooked on travel, I figured if international travel is like this, why not... 8) Of course this was the good ol days, when airlines actually treated you like a human being.

Pre 1989 Travel

I'm not going to document any travel I did before I was 18 yrs old (1989).

But here is a list of locations I visited or lived in before turning 18:

Hartford, Connecticut, USA (born here)
Bristol, Connecticut, USA (kindergarten)
Matunuck, Rhode Island, USA (spent my childhood here)
New York, USA (cousins lived here)
Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA (family friends lived here)
States along I95 corridor from New England to Florida (traveling with family)
Pinellas County, Florida, USA (teen years here)

I basically lived near a beach my entire childhood (from Rhode Island to Florida).
